Redline MT-90 75W90 GL-4 is Red Line’s most popular manual transmission gear oil, with the broadest range of applications. It’s a full-synthetic, ester-based lubricant built for manual transmissions and front-wheel-drive transaxles, not differentials. Because it’s shear-stable, it resists breakdown over extended use and keeps a consistent viscosity across warm and cold conditions.
This gear oil suits Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, VW/Audi, Lotus Elise/Exige, and Toyota manual transmissions. It’s also popular in Mendeola transmissions and Atlas transfer cases for off-road use. Unlike GL-5 oils, it contains no reactive sulfur compounds, so it’s safe on brass synchros. As a result, it delivers quicker, notch-free shifts, even when cold.
Its lower slipperiness gives an ideal synchronizer coefficient of friction, while its stronger film strength improves wear protection. Consequently, this combination extends synchro life alongside reduced gear noise.
MT-90 also replaces many factory-fill fluids, including BMW MTF-LT-4, VW/Audi G 052 911, and Ford M2C175-A and M2C200-B. It satisfies the gear oil viscosity requirements of 75W90, 80W90, and 90. It also covers motor oil viscosities of SAE 40, 10W40, and 15W40. As a result, it covers GL-1, GL-3, and GL-4 applications, including many original synchromesh-spec fluids. Red Line also offers MTL and MT-85 in this manual transmission range, for different synchro-friction requirements.
Note: Redline MT-90 75W90 GL-4 is designed for synchromesh manual transmissions. It is not suitable for differentials with hypoid gears.
