Redline Heavyweight ShockProof is Redline’s most popular ShockProof gear oil, built for heavily loaded racing differentials and transmissions. It carries a film thickness greater than a conventional SAE 75W250 gear oil. Yet it flows with the low fluid friction of a 75W90. As a result, it protects like a much heavier oil without the drag.
This works because ShockProof gear oils suspend solid microscopic particles as an extreme-pressure agent. Consequently, these particles cut fluid friction by around 40% compared to conventional gear oils. They also boost load-carrying capacity by up to 250%. In circle track, road racing, and off-road racing, this typically lowers operating temperatures by 25°F to 75°F.
Redline Heavyweight ShockProof suits problem gearboxes and heavily loaded racing differentials. It’s popular in Sprint, Midget, and Dirt Late Model cars, plus Quick Change differentials and Detroit Lockers and spools. It’s also used in NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car rear ends. Because it’s so slippery, it’s not recommended for most synchro-equipped manual transmissions.
Redline also offers a Lightweight ShockProof gear oil for less heavily loaded applications. Because Heavyweight ShockProof is thicker and more extreme, it suits harder-use racing differentials. It also works well in problem gearboxes that run hot or wear quickly. Always check your differential’s spec sheet before switching to a heavier ShockProof grade.
This fully-synthetic, ester-based formula also delivers a high viscosity index. As a result, it holds a consistent film thickness across a wide temperature range. It resists shear breakdown and oxidation better than conventional gear oils, and it exceeds API GL-5 specifications.
This fluid is also available in Gallon and 5-Gallon sizes for larger jobs or shop use. Not sure whether Redline Heavyweight ShockProof is right for your differential? Get in touch and we’ll help you choose. For the full technical data sheet, see Redline’s official product page.
